Welcome to
The Department of Animal Ecology
A Brief overview of our interests and work
Research:
Our research centres on increasing our knowledge of the animal populations and communities in forests -- a necessity for improving the scientific basis for harvesting and conserving these resources. Important research areas are: plant-animal interactions, habitat ecology, population dynamics and biodiversity. We work in field and lab, often by using experiments. Our research is very international.
Education:
We offer courses at all levels for students from SLU as well as from other universities. Most of the courses are given in English. The education of doctoral students is a high priority. We are often consulted by decision makers in government and industry on environmental issues, and we make our scientific findings accessible to the public in a varity of popular forms.
